The Rock Mission Trip - Day Two

Day Two
Neighborhood Prayer Walk and Coffee Shop Outreach
This morning, after breakfast and a devotional time prepared by Nate, we went on a prayer walk around the neighborhood to pray over specific locations of ministry. It is really a blessing to see how God has grown the ministry since I was last here in 2019. Our walk took us to a new office for a Chaplain program to help people get off the streets and into a christian rehab very quickly. Pray for a full time person to run with this ministry. We visited the site of the new location for the youth center called “The Youth Factory” where they will be able to reach more kids with programs and the gospel. Next we made our way the Rock garden, a plot dedicated to gardening and building relationships. following the garden we saw the site of a new women’s center to help and support women with unplanned pregnancy, which is next door to the Lost Coin coffee shop which is a space to offer free coffee and conversation and reach out.

Nate shared our morning devo out of 2 Samuel.

Praying out in front of the new Chaplain station for the Lord to provide a full-time person to run the station.

Construction on the Rock Youth Factory - youth center.

Our host, Gabby, telling us about the Rock Garden.

This is the Lost Coin coffee shop where we did outreach from today.

Nextdoor to the Lost Coin is the new Rock Women’s Care Center.

We sat down at the Lost Coin and debriefed about what we saw walking around the city. You'll notice there are not many pictures of the area. We were asked not to take pictures of people on the streets as it could cause a disturbance.

We were blessed to hear Ramon’s testimony.

I leave you with some words from Roberto.
”Good morning CCF family,
I have been asked to share a few words, reflecting upon our trip to the Rock Ministry in Kensington, PA. While I am certain that I cannot accomplish this task in this brief reflection, I will share one compelling thought that is evident throughout this trip. It is best captured in John 1:5, ”And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
Upon arriving into the neighborhood late Thursday evening, we were met with a heavy darkness that conveyed a hopeless defeat. However, over the subsequent day, this darkness proved to be no match for the Light that shines through the Rock Ministry. This ministry is truly an example of how Christ’s presence represents the Great Light, spoken of by Isaiah, that shines upon a people who dwell in the darkness of the shadow of death. I can truly say that I have experienced the overflowing compassion and grace which Christ has for anyone who is lost. In addition, this trip has reinforced my desire to share Jesus with anyone who has not heard the good news.
Until we meet again, be blessed.”
